L´Aquàrium de Barcelona (Catalan: Aquàrium de Barcelona, IPA: [əˈkwaɾi.um də βəɾsəˈlonə]) is the main and only large aquarium in the city and in Catalonia. It is also the most important center in the world focused on Mediterranean marine life. The complex, inaugurated in 1995, features 80 different tanks containing around 11,000 animals belonging to 600 different species. It is part of the Aspro Parks group.
Since 1995 it has welcomed more than 40 million visitors, ranking as the fourth most visited attraction in Barcelona, behind only the Sagrada Família, Park Güell, and the FC Barcelona Museum.
In 2025, L'Aquàrium de Barcelona began a new chapter to mark its 30th anniversary. The center underwent a major renovation focused on digitalization, sustainability, and modernization of its facilities. The update included new educational and interactive experiences aimed at strengthening its role in promoting awareness of the marine environment.
The aquarium is a member of the Iberian Association of Zoos and Aquaria (AIZA) and World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA)
